digitalmars.D.announce - Registration now open on dconf.org

reply Andrei Alexandrescu <SeeWebsiteForEmail erdani.org> writes:
Hello all,

We are happy to announce that registration is now opened on
http://dconf.org. The conference program this year is very strong,
featuring a good mix of talks from the industry and the academia. Please
consider joining us for the conference, which we believe will be an
inspiring and memorable event.

We have sent acceptance notification to all submitters. Following our
request for submissions we have gotten an embarrassment of riches - no
less than 44, of which we could only select 19 for a packed schedule. We
were forced to make difficult decisions because literally all
submissions were at or near acceptance level. In some cases we had to
reject submissions from long-time contributors, and please understand
that it's pained us as much as it may pain anyone. We hope, of course,
you will all consider attending the conference nevertheless.

Speaking of attendance: seating is limited; if we had more of it we
would have branched to two tracks as there was enough material for such.
Early Kickstarter contributors have already secured some 30% of the
seats, so if you consider joining DConf 2013 please decide sooner rather
than later.

Spread the word - this will be a heck of a get-together. Hope to see you
soon!

Walter and Andrei

Andrei, just to confirm, Kickstarter donors do not have to register? What about

For the first 20 at the $250 level and all those above $375 (which includes you), you still have to register (so we know you're coming), but there's no charge. "Registering" in that case is just letting me know. We're still working on getting discounted hotel rooms available, but in the meantime booking your flight is a good idea.
What about the tutorial? Are we allowed to see the tutorial too? :)
Sorry, it doesn't include the tutorial. The kickstarter page for reference: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2083649206/the-d-programming-language-conference-2013-0

Probably should clarify for the Kickstarter announcement: "Those of you who contributed at the early bird level and above are already registered - looking forward to seeing you there!"

I just registered. It would seem, though, that since I used my
wife's credit card I am registered in her name. There was no way
to separate registration information from billing information. My
wife will travel to California with me, but she certainly has no
interest in attending the conference! What do I need to do to
make sure it's in my name?

Although registrations are not refundable, they are transferable. Just let me know.

You're already registered for the conference, since you let me know you're coming. The tutorial isn't part of the conference, it's just adjacent to it because that's convenient.

Is there an 'official' way for kickstarter backers to let you know, or simply an informal email? I'm concerned that folks like me who backed on kickstarter, but don't regularly check the lists, may not know if they are officially registered or not. For instance, I do not know if I am registered or not (hence, this email). The communication via kickstarter and conf. website has been vague and conflicting in some cases - a clear, "here's what you do" somewhere would be great. Thanks, Jeremy

Things are pretty simple around here, an email is fine.

The timing on the schedule is a little weird: The following talk starts at 3:30 and lasts 50 minutes: http://dconf.org/talks/gertzfield.html But then your closing talk starts at 4:00. I guess there's some kind of mixup.

Lot of them also look very useful. I hope to get an authors permission after the conf to make a script for some videos in form of wiki article.

You should post an update at kickstarter project, so all backers would get this info. I bet not everyone there reads this newsgroup. Its a common practice for kickstarter projects to send progress updates after project successful funding.
