I have compiled and installed the merge-2.069 branch HEAD to
$HOME/Built. It now all installs =C2=A0:-)

I install both shared libraries and static libraries.

I can compile codes fine, but when it comes to runtime I have to
specify the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This seems a bit wrong, shouldn't the path
to the shared objects used for compilation be embedded in the
executable: rpath and all that stuff.
