digitalmars.D.announce - Two New Manpower Initiatives

I've just published a post on the blog introducing two new
initiatives, the Manpower Share and the Manpower Fund, that came
out of our quarterly D Language Foundation meetings. The goal is
to help focus energy on getting more effort directed at the
issues that fall by the wayside. The blog post has all the
details, so I encourage everyone who cares about improving D and
its ecosystem to give it a read.

On of the options to contribute to the d language foundation is amazon smile. Is there a way to also have amazon smile enabled for e.g. amazon.de? cK

Unfortunately, if smile is available at the .de domain, the D Language Foundation will not be. The .com domain is restricted to US-based organizations, the .co.uk domain to UK-based organizations, etc.

I'm proud of the ever increasing momentum being put behind D.

Looking at the Ecosystem Task List, I had expected something more specific than just "close as many bugs as possible" for various projects. -- /Jacob Carlborg

That's how I initially envisioned it. But on reflection, that's probably not the best way to go about it. The time available is extremely limited. Specific tasks need to be trivial enough to be completed within a single workday. That's a broad category. That would mean populating the list with a bunch of issues from the priority projects. Which issues? All of them that fit? Then why put them on the list at all? Just let the tasked worker sort through the project's issues page. They're in a better position than I am to judge how long it should take them to finish a lot of those items anyway. But this is just to seed the list and get us started. Anyone can suggest specific tasks to add to it and submit an issue or a PR. I expect such tasks to be added as time goes by.

Great write-up. IMO, the direction is right and looks promising. Of course, besides me only talking, I'm aware that something material can be done. And hopefully, I won't miss a chance ;) Cheers, Piotrek
