Dear D community, it is our pleasure to announce that the first Tango Conference will take place in Torun, Poland in September. The dates have been set to 26th to 28th (friday through sunday). Conference program includes both talks and sessions such as a game development panel and a concurrency workshop. Although it is a Tango themed conference, it should be highly interesting for the D community at large. A couple of the program spots will be decided upon after the first registrations as that will tell us more about which topics interest you the most. The complete program will be announced at that point. There will be a small fee to cover drinks and meals. More information about the conference can be found from the following link: http://dsource.org/projects/tango/wiki/TangoConference2008 To register for the conference, please go to: http://dsource.org/projects/tango/wiki/TangoConference2008Registration --- Signed, Tango Community

Lars Ivar Igesund: Very good. I have seen the page says something about 100 university students learning D (and Tango), surely they use some teaching aids, etc, where can I find such documentation (I presume it's free)? I have already taken a long fruitless look at the university site. Bye, bearophile

I've asked the lecturer about the slides/notes and am awaiting an answer :) -- Tomasz Stachowiak http://h3.team0xf.com/ h3/h3r3tic on #D freenode

Moodle allows tutors to (amongst other features) keep track of which students are enlisted to their courses, perform online quizes and share resources with students. It will then highlight what the new resources are (personally for each student) and which are useful for a particular section of the course. There's no univ rule that says that teachers should not share their resources, it's just that Moodle is usually a convenience. -- Tomasz Stachowiak http://h3.team0xf.com/ h3/h3r3tic on #D freenodeMost teaching materials at the univ are made available through the Moodle system - only for students having accounts at the university. My university is WAY more open, and kind.

I'd like to second Lars Ivar's invitation on behalf of team0xf who co-organize the conference - since it will take place at our university :) I'd like to specifically address anti-Tango, pro-Phobos people. This will be the right place and time to state your issues with Tango. Some Phobos people are coming - including the ever-loved template madman - downs, so you won't be left alone, should a battle occur ;) I'm also personally hoping to get together with D folks interested in gamedev, exchange experience and perhaps team up to create a cool game or game creation tools in D. Last, but not the least, there will be a lot of time after the conference hours to sit in pubs/restaurants and chat about anything D- and Tango-related. See you soon! -- Tomasz Stachowiak http://h3.team0xf.com/ h3/h3r3tic on #D freenode
