Hey guys, I'm posting this here because I plan to do some tools
for D. Is this the proper sub? Could you guys help giving me some
information about your thoughts about IDEs, compilers, IA and
software development tools in general? any feedback is welcome,
including questions that you think would be useful to include in
the survey.
Thank for your time!

Does it take ~24 minutes to complete? 🤔 Make it 5 mins and you will get more people responding 🙄

Yeah I did reduce this alot, I was going to cross some data but it seems will not be possible with this survey.

I don't see how the questions in the first page are relevant to D tools and IDE. Most of them are none of your business. That survey looks more like a trojan horse to collect sensible data than a real survey.

I just clicked on it and was going to make the same comment. (Actually, I was going to comment that they forgot to ask for my credit card information.) If it was so easy to get that type of information from people, Facebook wouldn't exist. They're going to have to create the IDE first, give it away for free, and then steal the information silently like everyone else.

Alright, initially I tried cross alot of data but I didn't realize most people would refuse to give their name, company's name etc. I removed all those. The first questions weren't as I tried to collect some data about the developer's profile but it's hard to get than I thought, I'll not do that. I'll ask just some IDE related questions. It was initially all interconnected but yeah the survey get lengthy.

Ok. I was going to do this but then once I saw that 90% of it was asking for information(alot doesn't even apply to me) I just closed the page. Maybe if you remake the form by deleting all that you can get peoples opinion. I don't think any of us is going to give away that information. Especially the people who didn't use their real name in their account.

Just realized that you probably aren't using your real name so why are you asking for ours then?

That's my last name also used as nickname in my country. I do usually put my name and email on this kind of survey but I didn't realize most people wouldn't do the same. I related those

It still asks where we are from. It also asks about our job. So, this means it's probably some sort of targeted ads survey.

No it isn't for target ads. I dislike companies like Facebook, Google, seeling user's data. Would you like some disclaimer about not using those data for target ads? It's to see developer's strugles and needs and relate things. So we can visualize things like "developers in the X-Y range company size are working on a 10 years old code base (that's why there's a backward compability section) written in C++ and can't migrate to D because the tool Z only works for C++" or "I'm stuck using this old code editor because the up-to-date version doesn't support that old code base". So we have a direction of what could be done.
