I use Opera 10.50 for both web-browsing and news reading. Highly  
recommended!

Outlook Express works fine for me. Many people like Thunderbird, but it had 
too many annoyances for me.

The newest version of Thunderbird is quite nice.  I keep my D newsgroups 
in one tab and email in the other.

Opera have in-build newsreader, and i am happy with it :)
