It didn't work out, because there are there busy people involved: 
Walter for the NNTP server, Brad for the mailing list (IIRC) and 
CyberShadow for the forum interface.

Keeping things tidy matters more than it might seem because of 
the impression it makes on others.   So I agree.

Good thing that when people usually talk about compilers, it's about a
bug they think they've found in it. ;-)
