I find that this newsgroup is frequented by very competent programmers and
was wondering if it would be OK to post a job ad on the group.

Only if you are offering a job that pays the big bucks! :)

If it's D related, great. If it isn't, it's still ok, as a small amount of off-topic stuff here and there is all right. If there's more interest along these lines, we can set up another newsgroup.

Thanks. It's kind-of D related, since I'm the lead programmer and I like D :) if performance proves to be bad.) L.

Is it part-time and in the Seattle area, by any chance?

Uh, not quite :) It's full-time, and in Beijing, China. Although I bet we'd hire good a programmer in any of our offices :) L.

I think you mean what would people expect for two hundred paid to you As I see it the Doctor gets $45 for each 6 minutes so $450/hr The Solicitor gets $300 to $500 /hr The Accountant wants $300/hr The Dentist wants $500/hr The Plumber wants $100/hr The Worker gets $30/hr if they are lucky The Conputer Programmer does 3 years at Uni and comes out all fired up and gets maybe $20/hr to start. Then they find out they can Freelance on the side and start doing work on a Contract basis. Depending on your ability you might make $1000 /hr if you keep your routines well ordered and don't have to keep writing the same stuff over. Oh and thats also if you get to employing people which is where Bill Gates started. If I paid you $200 though I would want a kiss for a start.

But as stated above, I would pay the programmer and not the other way around, so no kiss for you.

I though of saying it before and I think I will now; considering how people have reacted to you in the past, that comment is a bit risky. Regardless of it being appropriate or not (and only Saaa has any business making that call), you are risking opening your self up to /accusations/ of sexism. Just be carefully.

Um that doesn't come across right --- I was not trying to be funny. Do whatever you want.

Well I see you are , but look, 90% of everything we do in life is sexually driven whether you want to admit it or not. Whether you are conscious of it or not. Where does this sort of wowser comment stop? If you want to live in a concrete box in a concrete jungle thats your choice and I respect that. When you also want to start policing me its a different matter. Go join the police force if thats what gets you off. You lose sight of the fact that our only real purpose on this earth is to reproduce our genes . Think about it . Apart from what we do to amuse ourselves inbetween there isn't anything else So don't police me and keep such statements to yourself . I also agree not to try to tell you what not to do OK?

That is not the case. Reread my original comment, then read my follow up to that last post. If you don't see that I'm /not/ jugging you, find an American and ask them to read it and translate it for you to make sure the dialect differences aren't getting in the way. *I'm not saying what you said is inappropriate!* Frankly, I have no problem with it. The only thing I have a problem with is spending /my/ time filtering out the CRAP that you will, sooner or later, warranted or not, get over comments like that. If it gets to be to much trouble there's an easy fix for all of us, never even read your post. Take your pick. Frankly I'd rather it /was/ worth my time to read your posts.

If the point of life is amusement, then we'er all tost. (BTW the word amuse litteraly means to "not think")
