there's any value for such a thing in D, since it just makes me 
think back to the old "State of D" survey.

I don't think there's a shortage of information about what people 
want from D. The difficulty is finding the manpower, consensus, 
and sound, detailed designs required to actually implement things 
in a way that we won't regret later.
