digitalmars.D - Does anyone else think that std.c.windows.windows needs to be replaced?

To be honest, it's a pretty sad little module. It's missing a ton of
functionality and hasn't really changed since it became part of phobos.

I was thinking of alternatives. There is a wonderfully done translation of
the windows headers here:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA028375/d/windows.h.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dy.%2Btomino%2Bwindows%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DG

Note that while it's in English, it doesn't make much sense. Japanese ->
English computer translators leave something to be desired ;)

Also note that the "Windows.h for D" download is a 7zip archive; if you
don't have 7zip, you can get it from the little superscript 1 link right
after the "Windows.h for D" link.

I've been using these headers for a while now and I can't find anything
wrong with them. Except that if I want to distribute stuff that depends on
them, I have to distribute them as well.

I was wondering if perhaps these headers could replace
std.c.windows.windows. They have A and W versions of most
functions/structs, and include far more than std.c.windows.windows does.

<snip> I've seen this one already. But unless it's been updated since I looked, it's actually rather bloated and has a few quirks. http://www.digitalmars.com/drn-bin/wwwnews?digitalmars.D/17639 I'm in the process of turning it into something more wonderful.... BTW for some of us, very long URLs don't work well. The web interface also doesn't linkify URLs containing question marks properly. You might find this useful: http://tinyurl.com/ I've just worked its magic on your link: http://tinyurl.com/75o8x Stewart.

Ah, I see what you mean. I would imagine it's because they weren't translated by hand, but with a script. However, they're still _far_ more complete than std.c.windows.windows.

Sounds good! Be sure to let us know of your progress.

Thanks for that. Yet another reason to have a real forum... ;)
