IMHO it can be counted as stable. It's much more stable than a lot of
"stable" projects I've seen so far...

The focus is now and has been for a while just stamping out the bugs. We can (and have!) argue vigorously about how various features should work, but having a solid, reliable foundation that works as specified is the most important. You can see that reflected in the changelog.
