First, I apologise if this annoys anyone... I'm posting here in the spirit of "getting to know one another", because I want to know what you think and also because the file sharing concept below is somewhat unique and interesting. The original rock band I'm in (as lead vocals/bass) has started distributing music via a system called "weed", it's an interesting concept: http://www.weedshare.com/web/faq.html?src=home_info_09 In short, you download a file, listen to it 3 times, then can choose to pay for it. You can also pass the file on to someone else, if you do you can earn money for doing so. So, if anyone is even remotely interested in hearing my band you can hear our first 'single' here: http://www.nzweed.com/ We're called "formerly/known" :) In my experience you require Windows Media Player, it downloads a DRM license, and then plays the file 3 times. In article <opsnamrmmf23k2f5 nrage.netwin.co.nz>, Regan Heath says...The original rock band I'm in (as lead vocals/bass) has started distributing music via a system called "weed", it's an interesting concept: http://www.weedshare.com/web/faq.html?src=home_info_09 We're called "formerly/known" :)Nice pipes! I think that makes you the _first_ person in this newsgroup that I've actually heard. The recording "feels" like an incredibly well-rehearsed live take, which (I for one) would count as quite an accomplishment. Especially if it was pieced together from various separate takes and/or tracks. I like it. Plus its a nice break from all the electronica I've been feeding myself lately. .. so when's the full-length album due out? ;) - EricAnderton at yahoo

I'd never thought of that. The recording "feels" like an incredibly well-rehearsed live take, which (I for one) would count as quite an accomplishment. Especially if it was pieced together from various separate takes and/or tracks. I like it.Thanks, it was done in several takes, each instrument playing by itself. Our rhythum guitarist "Bones" did it using Pro Tools on his Mac. He plans to get into the recording industry, recording music for a living. I think what he's done is nearly as good as it gets without a prefessional rig and mastering.Plus its a nice break from all the electronica I've been feeding myself lately. .. so when's the full-length album due out? ;)Good question... We're working on it. We have perhaps 6 songs recorded to varying degrees of success and we have perhaps 3-4 more we could record now. We're planning to put our other songs on "weed" if this first one does ok. What we really need is to be "discovered" :) Regan
