c++ - Any way people can contribute financially?

reply "Kar Gay Lim" <kagay kimay.net> writes:
I have seen so far Walter and Jan has been doing these with
passions. I just want to know whether some form of financially
contributions/donation may be good for all?

BTW, I have been forwarding the announcements to Ron Burk
at Windows Development Journal (www.wdj.com) and he has
printed one at the reader's forum.

Ron Burk does know who Walter is but I think DMC is not
being used by Ron Burk. A while ago when Symantec was
still selling the product, the bug lists, performance tests would
include SC++. One good mention before was that when SC7.20
had a bug, Walter sent him the 7.21 patch in a matter of hours.

I just wonder whether we should do a bit more pushing at WDJ
for DMC ? Perhaps you guys might already have...

The product is a bit of a work in progress at the moment, so I wouldn't feel
right about charging money for it. I do appreciate the thought, though! And
heck, I'm enjoying myself working on it, and I think Jan is too.

I guess we could, but what I think what really would break in is a complete product in an InstallShield.... Jan

Personally I like Wise Installations. Most applications that I do

for VB programmer.

Wise seems to work better with SC++/DMC++ based on my
own experience..

I have never looked at Wise Install. I use InstallShield Express 2.11 for
everything. All I do is DMC++. I have InstallShield figured out far enough
to make sure that the several patches for Win95/98 are being installed.
I might take a peek at Wise if I had time and money to get a version. For
now I will have to stick with InstallShield for these reasons.

Howver, there are quite a number of users out there that don't...

Well, I just LOVE the compiler. In many ways I feel like a owe it the things I do as it has allowed me to build my current life as it is. It is and has been the greatest software development tool for me for at least the last 10 years! Because of my early usage of the compiler I have been able to build a little business of my own. I work from my home and have been for longer than 10 years... I have been thinking about putting a "Gift Button" on the site for those that want to financially support. Although, the hours spent on support are numerous and I would charge any US company at least $125/hour.

I have been forwarding Ron everything I have got so far. Especially the design by contract stuff. One of the things that came up is that I wanted to create an InstallShield for the product so that an install would be easy for everyone. This way we could provide anyone as Ron with an InstallShield to make it easy on them. Also, when we want to commercialize the product again we will need to have an Install/Uninstall feature. I don't like it, but that seems to be the way the world works these days... Jan
