D - GUI / Linux

Hi,

I miss some mature gui writing support in D.

DUI "should be considered alpha state". DIG ist "currently only [for] Windows
95+'s". Is there anything more?

Yes, I know it is some hard work to code a complete gui system (with docs). But
D needs GUI. Without GUI all those osnews.com and slashdot articles won't help
much...

With some working GUI libs available I would instantly switch to D.

Why not contribute to http://www.dsource.org/projects/dwt/. I'm sure that if they get enough people helping out it could be done really soon. -- -Anderson: http://badmama.com.au/~anderson/

Have you actually tried DUI? Ant's already using it as the base for his LEDS editor. "Alpha" means different things to different people. D itself is still in "beta". If you will only work with final releases, D isn't ready for you yet. Large libraries tend to break after every other release of the compiler. That can't be helped when the compiler is still under development. As things settle down with the Spec (as it will soon, I think), it'll get easier to develop and you might see projects releasing 1.0's.

DUI is quite usable even if some details are missing. I'll change the "alpha state" message. Ant http://dui.sourceforge.net http://leds.sourceforge.net
