On both machines with which I access this ng, the newsreader (the filthy Outlook Express) regularly reports that there are x messages not downloaded (atm it's 12). Is there something on the ng server that is sniffing out advertisiting, viruses and other filth posted by spamming tossers, and we are being protected from, or is there something wrong with my newsreader and I'm missing potentially important messages. Anyone experience the same thing? Matthew

Yeah it's a weird one. I'm certain that the bulk of those that you mention are old messages. On one of my machines I deleted the account and when I brought it back there was a similar number that were not downloaded. However, what I get on the main machine, which gets kept up to date, is that every couple of days there are a handful of "not dowloaded"s, which makes me wonder whether my OE, or the DM server, is filtering them. Sometimes I read a message and it's clearly been an answer to one I've not seen, so I might be missing important things (since all you folks have words of gold!) Oh well, other things are calling me away ... In this case, I have 11549 messages downloaded, 0 unread. My newsreader shows some other thing that is very strange, though. All messages from 5th of March this year until 26th of October has disappeared. A few weeks ago, I had the messages to about 25th of September. Maybe Outlook Express has reached a limit? We've got lots of disk space! What I've wanted to do for some time is to take all the D messages and convert them into html and link them all together. Doing this may finally get Google to index them <g>.
